The weather on
Tenerife is comparable to some of the finest in the world and Tenerife
has a consistly warm climate throughout the year. The southern coastal
areas of Tenerife tend to offer the most consistent warm weather and
clearest skies.
Southern and western Tenerife are the most consistently warmest parts
of the island. The north receives more rain resulting in lusher and
greener areas of tropical greenery. Mount Teide is just a short drive from the sunny warm coastline
but often features snowy peaks from around 2,000 metres up. Tenerife's famous Passat winds act to regulate the
temperatures even during the sunniest weather offering pleasant
gentle cooling breezes.
The weather and climate on the island of Tenerife can be described as
'spring-like'. It has constant warm temperatures year-round and a
fresh feeling due to the pleasing Gulf air currents. Spring (March -
April) is a particularly nice time of the year to visit Tenerife, when
temperatures lift slightly after January and February to around 22°C /
72°F.
By April and May average daytime temperatures will have risen to about
24°C / 75°F with sunny weather. Many people choose to visit Tenerife
during the spring months when prices tend to be lower and the heat is
less intense.
Tenerife's summer season falls between May to October and this has
always been the most popular time to visit the island. The
temperatures are high during the summer weather peaking in July and
August at around 30°C / 86°F. However, the dry breezy climate is
pleasant and not uncomfortably hot.
Tenerife's autumn weather and climate reamains very pleasant with
temperatures at around 27°C / 81°F in early October, falling to 22°C /
72°F by late November.
The winter is the coolest time of the year although still extremely
mild. Tenerife makes a perfect winter break, with lots of sunny
weather, a warm climate, low rainfall, lovely stretches of sandy beach
and water temperatures of around 19°C / 66°F. December and
January usually have daytime temperatures of around 21°C / 70°F
although night times can feel much cooler.

there are areas of Tenerife where rainfull is quite high (ie.
Mountains) compared to coastal areas thus making the above
figures quite misleading. The rainfull in the southern holiday
resorts should be well lower than the figures shown above. |
