Malta set at the heart of the Mediterranean with a climate that is significantly influenced by the surrounding sea.   Malta's climate is heavily influenced by it's neighbours of Southern Italy, Africa and Southern Greece. The high daytime temperatures are cooled by sea breezes that also affect Italy and Greece but Malta is often drier due it's proximity with the African coast.

Malta Weather in Summer - May, June, July, August

Malta's summer is hot, dry and very sunny with temperatures peaking at around 31C in August.  During the summer months Malta averages 12 hours of sunshine per day which makes it perfect for sunbathing and enjoying the island's many beaches.

The clear Mediterranean waters are warm enough for a range of popular water sport activities.

Malta Weather in Spring and Autumn - March, April, September, October

Malta and it's neighbouring island Gozo have very stable climates all year round and start to heat up in April with little rain during the spring/summer season between April and August.

September and October remain very pleasant with temperatures in excess of 20C.

Malta Weather in Winter - November, December, January, February

The winter season on Malta is very mild. Maximum daily temperatures very rarely fall below 15C and still hit the 20s in October and November for usually about seven hours per day.

There are a few heavy thunderstorms during the winter months but rainfall is very low on Malta with only 600mm annually. Snow on Island is unheard of!

The mild climate during the winter months means that you can still obtain a tan but also sightsee in comfort.
