Crete Weather in Summer - April, May, June, July, August

Crete boasts the longest summer season in Greece.  April sees temperatures of 18C and over 8 hours of sun every day.  Springtime is the ideal time to beat the tourist crowds and provides perfect weather for sightseeing and outdoor activities such as walking and cycling. During May the temperature rises to around 20C reaching 22-24C in June and peaking at 27C in the busiest month of August.  In August the beaches of Crete are busy and there is almost 13 hours of lovely hot sunshine every day. The strong 'meltemi' winds that blow from the north throughout all of Greece are fairly strong during the summer especially August creating everything from gentle breezes to extremely gusty winds.  These refreashing winds help to reduce temperature and humidity.

Crete Weather in Spring and Autumn - March, September, October

The sun shines between 9 and 11 hours during September and October with the temperatures remaining above 20C.  March is still very much winter season as below.

Crete Weather in Winter - November, December, January, February

Winter sees the start of the rainfall with January and February being the wettest months of the year with lows of 12C and usually over 4 hours of sunshine.

Eastern Crete is generally very dry and hot with an almost desert-like terrain.  Western Crete sees slightly lower temperatures and a greener landscape.  Temperatures also vary between the warm coastal areas and the cooler mountainous regions which sometimes even receive snow during the winter.
